Ramón
Saúl Sánchez Visits Houston
The Tertulia Cubana (Cuban Literary Circle) and the Comité Panamericano
Pro-Democracia brought Ramón Saúl Sánchez to Houston
to speak regarding human rights in Cuba, promoting rememberance and acts
of no violence, as that of Jesus of Nazareth, Ghandi, Martin Luther King,
Jr., Valera, José Martí and others. Sánchez, Director
of the Movimiento Democracia (Democracy Movement) captivated Cuban-American-Houstonians
with his powerful and patriotic message.
Every year the Flotilla Democracia (Democracy Float) nears Cuban waters
while maintaining in American waters, in rememberance of the Drowning "13
of March," and airplanes of "Hermanos al Rescate" ("Brothers
to the Rescue") also symbolically fly in American air space. They hope
to send a peaceful and powerful message that "we WILL NOT forget those
who have been tragically and unjustly killed trying to flee Communist Cuba."
And also, to end the unecessary paying of taxes and visas to the Cuban government,
for simply entering Cuba.
